Our Services

The Grafton Firm is a Baltimore Bankruptcy Law Firm.  Aside from having two excellent Maryland Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Grafton Firm also handles Wills, Estates, Probate, Advanced Directives, Powers of Attorneys, General Civil Litigation, and Appellate Work.  Below is a brief description of each of the services, with links to the firm’s main website detailing all of our many services. If we can help you in any of these areas, give us a call at (410) 505-0414. We look forward to helping you!

Civil Litigation

At the Grafton Firm, our attorneys have years of experience handling complex commercial litigation.  We recognize that litigation is often won and lost in discovery and motions practice, but we’re not afraid to take our clients’ cases to trial.

Appellate Work

A successful appellate practice requires a great attention to detail, skillful analysis, and thorough research.  It generally requires a different skill set than that of a trial attorney.  At the Grafton Firm, we frequently handle the appellate work for other law offices whose clients benefit from our experience in crafting appellate arguments.

Wills

We take into consideration the complexity of your plans, the types of assets you own, and how you wish to divide your estate among your family. Our goal is to make wills and other estate planning documents accessible and affordable to all.

Trusts

Trusts are legal entities that can own property. They can be established during your lifetime or after you pass away and can be used to provide lasting income or asset protection to your family. A trust is an excellent tool to use to set aside assets for your children.

Estate Administration & Probate Assistance

When someone passes away, whether they have a will or not, their assets need to be handled according to the laws of their state. Most of the time, an estate will have to be created with the Probate Office, and an Estate Administrator will need to be appointed. Although almost anyone can be an Estate Administrator, it is a lot of work to do while you are grieving. We can handle this for you during this difficult time.

Bankruptcy

At the Grafton Firm we understand how easily life’s debts can spiral out of control. We can help you regain control by filing bankruptcy when appropriate. A fresh financial start is around the corner.

Powers of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a legal document where you can give another person the authority to make decisions on your behalf. There are Financial Powers of Attorney and Health Care Powers of Attorney. You should consider establishing powers of attorney so that others can handle your affairs (e.g., pay your bills) or make medical decisions for you if you are unable.

Advanced Directives (Living Wills)

An Advanced Directive explains what type of medical treatment you want to be used on you. This is an important document to have in case you are unable to explain your wishes when treatment is needed. A specific type of Advanced Directive, called a Psychiatric Advanced Directive is particularly important for people with psychiatric conditions that may cause them to be legally incompetent at times.
